July (2013) Book Haul

Hi Guys,
Today I'm going to do my July (2013) Book Haul. I don't have as many books as I normally do, I've been trying to hold off on buying books. I'm surprisingly doing really well, considering that I only bought one book this month. The other three were free for my Amazon Kindle. Let's jump right into the books I bought.

June (2013) Book Haul

Hi Guys,
Today I'm going to be doing my June, 2013 Book Haul. I've got ARCs, Galleys, and Books I bought myself. So, let's jump right into it with the ARCs.

I received one ARC, but it was like two, because it was a flip ARC. On one side it was Project Cain and on the other side it was Cain's Blood, and they are both by Geoffrey Girard.

I then received several Galleys of books. I received Charm & Strange by Stephanie Kuehn, Extremities by David Lubar, The Island by Jen Minkman, Quarantine: The Saints by Lex Thomas, and False Sight by Dan Krokos.

I also bought five books for myself which include: The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams, The Book of Celtic Verse which was put together by John Matthews, Grimm's Complete Fairy Tales by The Brothers Grimm, The Darkest Minds by Alexandra Bracken, and The Complete Tales and Poems of Edgar Allan Poe by Edgar Allan Poe.

So that's all I've got for this book haul, let me know in the comments what books you've recently received. I'll see you guys tomorrow with a review of Hush, Hush by Becca Fitzpatrick.

July (2012) Book Haul (2)

Hi Guys,
This past Saturday I received a package in the mail which I wasn't expecting. When I looked at the package, it said that it was from Scholastic, which was an even larger shock to me. I tried remembering if I entered a contest, or requested an ARC recently. I couldn't remember either one, so when I opened it, I was very excited (and I might've done some happy dancing). I received an ARC of The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater! I forgot I'd sent an e-mail requesting an ARC of this, several months ago. I got an e-mail back saying that they would put me on the list, but I was not expecting to get one, because this is a new release from a very popular author. I'M GLAD I GOT IT! I've started reading it, but I'm only on page 30, because I wanted to finish Isle of Night first (which was a great book by the way, the review of it is coming soon). I've read Shiver by Maggie, but I didn't like it as much as I hoped to. The main character was very... I don't know, I just didn't like her. But almost everything else about the book I liked, with the exception of some minor things. I can already tell that I'll love the characters of this novel, there are several of them, and they each have their own personality and back story, and I really like it so far. I can't wait to finish it and review it soon. This book is set to release on Sept. 18, 2012. So I'll probably post a review for it at the start of September. Here is the synopsis from Goodreads:

“There are only two reasons a non-seer would see a spirit on St. Mark’s Eve,” Neeve said. “Either you’re his true love . . . or you killed him.”
It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive.
Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them—not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her.
His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.
But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain. He has it all—family money, good looks, devoted friends—but he’s looking for much more than that. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little.
For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore.

I love this book so far, and I can't wait to dive further into the mythology, and the overall story of this novel. I'm very glad that I received this ARC, and I wanna thank Scholastic publishers as well as Maggie Stiefvater, for sending me this ARC. I hope you guys are as excited about this book as I am. I can already tell that this book will be one of my favorites.

July (2012) Book Haul

Hi guys,
The other day I received five packages in the mail, four of which I bought on eBay, and another that was sent to me by the author. From eBay I received: the first five books in the Night World series (in their original covers), the last two books in the Dark Visions series (in their original covers), and the first, second, and fourth books in the Vampire Diaries series (in their original covers). I actually ordered the third book in the Vampire Diaries series as well, but for some reason I didn't receive it in the mail, so I guess I'll have to get it from somewhere else. I bought these books, because last year, while at a consignment shop, I found the fourth Vampire Diaries book in the original edition, and I bought it for less than a dollar, and since I love the books, I thought I would try to collect all of them in their original covers. Now, I still have to get the third Vampire Diaries book, the first Dark Visions book, the last four Night World books, and the three Secret Circle books. I'm excited I'm a little over half-way done with my collection, and I can't wait to continue collecting them.

I also received a book from Nancy Holder, author of several hit YA books (Crusade/Unleashed/Buffy the Vampire Slayer, etc.). The book I received from her was her most recent release, On Fire: A Teen Wolf Novel, I was very excited when I saw this in my mailbox. I love the television show, and I just know I'll love this book as well. I love the characters of the show, and I can't wait to read about them in this novel. The character I'm most excited about reading about is Stiles. I didn't like the character in the original Teen Wolf movie, but Dylan O'Brien's Stiles is hilarious, and I can't wait to read about his experiences in this novel.

So i had a pretty good In My Mailbox this week, and I hope you guys have had a good one as well. I hope you guys check out each of these books, and I look forward to reviewing them for you guys on the blog.

The pictures below are of the original editions of the books I got this week, as well as a picture of the cast of Teen Wolf posing with On Fire by Nancy Holder.

April (2012) Book Haul

Hi Guys,
Today I received a package in the mail, which was a huge surprise to me. The only book I was expecting in the mail was Insurgent, which doesn't release until next week. So, like I said before, I was caught off guard. When I opened the package, I saw the pure white cover, with a hummingbird in a jar in the center of the book. I HAVE AN ARC OF SURRENDER BY ELANA JOHNSON! I was so excited when I saw it, and then I was wondering how I received it. In the middle of the book was a business card from Simon and Schuster, but there was not any info about why they sent it to me. I then went online, and I sent a message to the e-mail left on the business card. The woman e-mailed me back almost instantly. Apparently, I won a copy on her blog after leaving a comment on one of her posts. I'd forgotten all about it, and was not expecting to win... BUT I'M GLAD I DID! I haven't read Possession yet, but I believe this will motivate me to do so. I've wanted to read it since I saw the amazing cover, and now that I have an ARC of Surrender, I can finally read it. Here is the synopsis from the back of the book (remember it's a sequel, I don't know if it has spoilers, but this is your warning!) :

Forbidden love, intoxicating power, and the terror of control…
Raine has always been a good girl. She lives by the rules in Freedom. After all, they are her father’s rules: He’s the Director. It’s because of him that Raine is willing to use her talent—a power so dangerous, no one else is allowed to know about it. Not even her roommate, Vi.
All of that changes when Raine falls for Gunner. Raine’s got every reason in the world to stay away from Gunn, but she just can’t. Especially when she discovers his connection to Vi’s boyfriend, Zenn. Raine has never known anyone as heavily brainwashed as Vi. Raine’s father expects her to spy on Vi and report back to him. But Raine is beginning to wonder what Vi knows that her father is so anxious to keep hidden, and what might happen if she helps Vi remember it. She’s even starting to suspect Vi’s secrets might involve Freedom’s newest prisoner, the rebel Jag Barque...

I'm very excited for this, and I can't wait to buy Possession, and read both of them. The covers look amazing, and the synopsis' sound even better than the covers look. I hope the book meets my expectations I hope the book exceeds my expectations!

A special thanks to Elana Johnson, and the group of people working with S&S! I look forward to reading these novels!

March (2012) Book Haul

Hi Guys,
I just found out Friday that I won a finished copy of Replication: The Jason Experiment by Jill Williamson. I won this book on the Fragments of Life blog, during the Dystopian Domination Part 2. I'm really excited for it to get here, and I can't wait to read it, here is the synopsis:

When Your Life Is Not Your Own Martyr---otherwise known as Jason 3:3---is one of hundreds of clones kept in a remote facility called Jason Farms. Told that he has been created to save humanity, Martyr has just one wish before he is scheduled to 'expire' in less than a month. To see the sky. Abby Goyer may have just moved to Alaska, but she has a feeling something strange is going on at the farm where her father works. But even this smart, confident girl could never have imagined what lies beneath a simple barn. Or what would happen when a mysterious boy shows up at her door, asking about the stars. As the reality of the Jason Experiment comes to light, Martyr is caught between two futures---the one for which he was produced and the one Abby believes God created him to have. Time is running out, and Martyr must decide if a life with Abby is worth leaving everything he's ever known.

I can't express how excited I am to read this, and I hope you guys get a chance to check it out, and I'll hopefully have a review of it on the blog soon.

January (2012) Book Haul (3)

Hi guys, today I'm going to tell you about winning a book from a blog. I can't believe it... I never really win anything, so winning three things in the span of 2 weeks is amazing. I appreciate all the blogs having these contests, and the authors for writing these amazing books. I hope I keep winning though. The one I won that I'm going to talk about today is Angel Evolution by David Estes, I won an e-book of this, I'm excited to read this one, and I'm very glad I won it. Here is the cover:

Doesn't it look amazing? I'll post a review of this book, when I finish it...(which I haven't started yet... but I hope to soon!) :D

Hi guys,
Today I received a piece of mail from a certain YA author. Her name is Kim Harrington, author of the Clarity series. I entered her Perception giveaway and I won a signed bookmark, and a signed bookplate. I was really excited when I got it today, because this was the first giveaway for swag I've won. Here are the pictures of the Bookmark/Bookplate:
