Waiting on Wednesday (3)

Hi Guys,
This is my third Waiting on Wednesday (WoW) post. I know I didn't post a WoW last week, but I think it would be easier for me to just do a WoW every other week. Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. This Wednesday I'm waiting on:

Dualed (Dualed 1)
by Elsie Chapman
unknown # of Pages
Random House
February 26th, 2013
YA

Goodreads' Synopsis:

Would you live through the ultimate test of survival?
The city of Kersh is a safe haven, but the price of safety is high. Everyone has a genetic Alternate—a twin raised by another family—and citizens must prove their worth by eliminating their Alts before their twentieth birthday. Survival means advanced schooling, a good job, marriage—life.
Fifteen-year-old West Grayer has trained as a fighter, preparing for the day when her assignment arrives and she will have one month to hunt down and kill her Alt. But then a tragic misstep shakes West’s confidence. Stricken with grief and guilt, she’s no longer certain that she’s the best version of herself, the version worthy of a future. If she is to have any chance of winning, she must stop running not only from her Alt, but also from love . . . though both have the power to destroy her.

When I saw the cover of this book, I thought: "Wow, another dystopian novel... which series will this be a copy of? The Hunger Games? Matched? Under the Never Sky?" I felt this way, that is, until I read the subtitle "You or your alt? Only one will survive." After reading this, I thought: "I love a good battle to the death, this book sounds amazing already... but wait... what is an Alt?" Then I read the synopsis, and I fell in love! This book sounds so original, and if there are other books like it out there, I haven't read them. A dystopian setting, a seemingly strong female lead, and a battle to the death... with YOURSELF... what more could you ask for? I'm really excited for this book, but I have to wait until February... OF NEXT YEAR! UGH! Why must I be forced to wait so long... well, I guess that's life, you have to wait for something good... and I'm sure that this book will be phenomenal. Dualed is going to be at the top of my "2013 Releases" list. Are you guys waiting for this book, leave a comment telling me what book your waiting for today. Stay posted on the blog, to see what I'll be waiting for next Wednesday... or the Wednesday after that.

Waiting on Wednesday (2)

Hi Guys,
This is my second Waiting on Wednesday (WoW) post. I know I didn't post a WoW last week, but it was a very busy week for me... so we will pick up right where we left off. Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. This Wednesday I'm waiting on:

The Dark Light
By: Sara Walsh
496 pages
Simon Pulse
August 28th, 2012
YA

Goodreads' Synopsis:

Mysterious lights have flickered above Crownsville for as long as Mia can remember. And as far as she’s concerned, that’s about the only interesting thing to happen in her small town.
That is, until Sol arrives. Mia’s not one to fall for just any guy, but she can’t get intense Sol—or the brilliant tattoo on his back—out of her mind.
Then Mia’s brother goes missing, and Mia’s convinced that Sol knows more than he’s sharing. But getting closer to Sol means reevaluating everything she once believed to be true. Because Sol’s not who Mia thought he was—and neither is she.

I read the synopsis for this book a few weeks ago, and I fell in love, and when re-reading the synopsis as part of the YAmazing Race, I fell in love with it again. The cover for this book is pretty cool as well, the tattoo really catches your attention, the only problem I have with the cover is that it looks very provocative. I hope that the story itself isn't that provocative, because reading things like that kind of freak me out... like if someone looked over my shoulder they'd say "Ew, what are you  reading!?!". I was hoping to win this book along with others on the YAmazing Race, but I didn't win anything, except a bookmark of The Dark Light given away to all commentators on the author's blog. I've contacted Walsh by e-mail, to give info about receiving the bookmark, as well as about me being a book blogger, and having something cool happen with The Dark Light on Young Adult Books (ARC, giveaway, etc.). She hasn't replied, but I hope she does, because I'm anxiously awaiting this book today... and I will be until it is released in August. Are you guys waiting for this book, leave a comment telling me what book your waiting for today. Stay posted on the blog, to see what I'll be waiting for next Wednesday.

Waiting on Wednesday (1)

Hi Guys,
This is my first Waiting on Wednesday (WoW) post, and I'm very excited about it, I've wanted to do one for a while now, but I didn't know when to start. Well, that time is NOW! Waiting on Wednesday is hosted by Jill at Breaking the Spine. This Wednesday I'm waiting on:

The Raven Boys
By: Maggie Stiefvater
416 pages
Scholastic Press
September 18th, 2012
The Raven Cycle #1
YA

Goodreads' Synopsis:

“There are only two reasons a non-seer would see a spirit on St. Mark’s Eve,” Neeve said. “Either you’re his true love . . . or you killed him.”
It is freezing in the churchyard, even before the dead arrive.
Every year, Blue Sargent stands next to her clairvoyant mother as the soon-to-be dead walk past. Blue herself never sees them—not until this year, when a boy emerges from the dark and speaks directly to her.
His name is Gansey, and Blue soon discovers that he is a rich student at Aglionby, the local private school. Blue has a policy of staying away from Aglionby boys. Known as Raven Boys, they can only mean trouble.
But Blue is drawn to Gansey, in a way she can’t entirely explain. He has it all—family money, good looks, devoted friends—but he’s looking for much more than that. He is on a quest that has encompassed three other Raven Boys: Adam, the scholarship student who resents all the privilege around him; Ronan, the fierce soul who ranges from anger to despair; and Noah, the taciturn watcher of the four, who notices many things but says very little.
For as long as she can remember, Blue has been warned that she will cause her true love to die. She never thought this would be a problem. But now, as her life becomes caught up in the strange and sinister world of the Raven Boys, she’s not so sure anymore.

I have the Wolves of Mercy Falls series by Stiefvater, I was about half-way through Shiver when I put it down, making it a part of my debt-list. I didn't like Shiver that much, but I believe I will love this book. From the synopsis it sounds AMAZING! In addition to that, the cover is really cool, it looks like it would be more of a guy book, but I don't know. I like the "Gothic" feel to the cover and the synopsis, so I have a feeling I'll like the book as well. I'm anxiously waiting for this novel to be released... are you? Leave a comment about what you think of this book, or what novel you might want to see next week's WoW. Check out this blog next week to see the next novel I'm waiting for.
