Today I'll be reviewing The 5th Wave by Rick Yancey, the first book in The Fifth Wave series. This novel is 457 pages of nonstop action, characters that you root for, and plot twists that will keep you guessing well after the end of the book. Here's the synopsis from Goodreads:

I'm sorry I'm a couple days late on the review, I've been a little busy this week. But, I didn't forget, so here is the review for The Rise of Nine by Pittacus Lore, the third book in the I am Number Four series. This was another amazing installment in this book, and I can't wait to review it. Here is the synopsis from the Goodreads:

Until the day I met John Smith, Number Four, I'd been on the run alone, hiding and fighting to stay alive. Together, we are much more powerful. But it could only last so long before we had to separate to find the others. . . . I went to Spain to find Seven, and I found even more, including a tenth member of the Garde who escaped from Lorien alive. Ella is younger than the rest of us, but just as brave. Now we're looking for the others--including John. But so are they. They caught Number One in Malaysia. Number Two in England. And Number Three in Kenya. They caught me in New York--but I escaped. My first impression of this book was that it didn't really look like the other covers, I liked the first two, but this one kind of fell flat to me. When I bought the book, I noticed that the cover felt strange too, I didn't like that either... I'm also confused as to whether the book cover is a rock, or sand. I thought it was sand at first, but I've heard people say it was a rock, so I don't know. Besides the cover, I was hoping this would be a good book, I loved the I am Number Four, but The Power of Six was below average for me. I started reading this in August of 2012, but I just finished this past Saturday. I wasn't reading it the whole time, I set it down to read some other books, and I just got back around to it. It was an easy read for the last 150 pages or so. Although, it was a little boring in parts in the middle. The plot wasn't very interesting, the only new thing was the vision of Setrakus Raa (#Spellcheck) by each member of the Garde. There were also some "surprise" plot twists (I guess that by the quotation marks, you guys understand that they weren't very surprising). I loved the additional new characters, Nine has instantly become one of my favorite fictional characters ever, and Eight was likable enough, but I felt something that made him seem like the "Judas" of the story, but I don't know how it'll turn out. The action of this book was amazing, and the suspense left me on the edge of my seat. I'm really looking forward to what happens in the future books, I want for Five to be introduced, and I WANT TO KNOW WHERE/HOW SAM IS!!! Sam is one of my favorite characters of this series, and I need to read about him some more, I miss his hilarious wit. I also liked some of the new legacies introduced in the book. I give this book 4/5 stars. It was better than the Power of Six, but nowhere close to I am Number Four. The reason I gave it four stars, is because of the boring parts, and that's about it. I can't wait for the next novel, and I hope it's the best one yet! Check this book series out, if you haven't already, It's AMAZING!!!

Power of Six Book Review

This week I'm doing a review on The Power of Six by Pittacus Lore. This is the sequel to the bestselling book I am Number Four. This book switches perspective between Four and Seven. Seven is an orphan girl living in a convent. Four is still on the run from the FBI as well as Mogadorians. Here is the synopsis from the front flap of the book:

I've seen him on the news. Followed the stories about what happened in Ohio. John Smith, out there, on the run. To the world, he's a mystery. But to me . . . he's one of us.

My first reaction to this book was good, because I'd already read, and loved, I am Number Four. Not to mention that the cover of this book is amazing. I thought this book was decent, it seemed rushed to me. The only things that kept me reading this book were the characters and the plot. I liked Number Seven, I thought she was innocent and I liked how she looked out for others. I also liked Number four, Number nine, Number ten, Number six, Sam, and... you guys might not want to hear this... Sarah. I know, I know... what she did to Four was wrong, but I think there had to be something that happened that made her do that to him. I still think she's a good person. I like Sam and Six's chemistry throughout the book, and I liked how four and nine were not afraid to kick butt towards the end. Number ten amazed me from the moment I found out who she was. I didn't like Number Seven's cepan... she was a total... never-mind that... I did start to like her towards the end, as for the other nuns... i didn't like them. I gave this book 3/5 stars because the only things I liked about it were the characters and the plot. The dialogue was horrible... and there were other reasons I didn't like this book, but I don't want to go through them. I did like the book though. I think people should read it, there is always at least one book in a series that is horrible, and this is that book. I hope the next one will be really good. :D

I am Number Four Book Review

This is the start of a new year and I'm going to dedicate my first post in the new year with a book review of I Am Number Four by Pittacus Lore. I LOVED this book, it's one of my new favorites. Here is the summary from the front flap:

In the beginning they were a group of nine. Nine aliens who left their home planet of Lorien when it fell under attack by the evil Mogadorian. Nine aliens who scattered on Earth. Nine aliens who look like ordinary teenagers living ordinary lives, but who have extraordinary, paranormal skills. Nine aliens who might be sitting next to you now.
The Nine had to separate and go into hiding. The Mogadorian caught Number One in Malaysia, Number Two in England, and Number Three in Kenya. All of them were killed. John Smith, of Paradise, Ohio, is Number Four. He knows that he is next.

My first impression of the book was good. I loved the cover and thought it was really cool how they made every aspect of the cover relate to the book. I know you're not supposed to judge a book by it's cover, but I always do... if it looks good I read the summary and if the summary sounds good, I pick it up and read it. That's what happened with this book, and I loved it. I loved how it was in first person, and the person telling the story (Number Four) knows what he is, and the book doesn't have a secret that takes half the book to reveal. The book was great, and I can't tell you anymore about it without spoiling so I'm just going to leave the rest alone. I five this book 5/5 stars. You guys should check it out definately.
