The Hunger Games Book Review

Hi guys,
I'm doing this weeks book review a little early because I don't know if I will be able to do it this upcoming week. Last week, we finished up the Gone series book reviews. This week we will be starting another book series. This series of book reviews are The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins. This is another really good series that I've read more than once. Here is the summary from the front flap of the book.

Could you survive on your own, in the wild, with everyone out to make sure you don't live to see the morning?

In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before—and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that will weigh survival against humanity and life against love.

My first impression of this book was that it looked like an okay book. Normally I don't go for the books with the birds on them haha, but when I saw it, I saw the name Suzanne Collins. Immeadiatley I recognized her name from a book series I used to read in elementary school named the Gregor the Overlander series. I used to read this series, it wasn't the best series I've ever read, but I decided to pick The Hunger Games anyway. I read the summary, and I liked it, while reading the summary, I thought it was going to be in a guys perspective, that is until I got to the word "she", I was shocked because this book didn't sound like one that would have a girl main character, but of course this made me want to read it even more. So I bought it, took it home, and immeadiatley started reading it. I found myself reading this book outside in the woods in my back yard to get a closer experience to the book, that's how amazing this book is. It took a while to get in to it, but after you get past that you are hooked, and I stayed up late at night reading this book. One part of the book I could have done without is the pre-game part of the book, and also the "mutants". I can't tell anymore without spoiling, but take my word for it and go buy it. I give this book 4/5 stars, because of the focus on the pre-game show at the begining of the book. This book is a great one to read, and you guys need to check it out.
